We began in the construction business by doing Process Piping installations. During our first 30 years we did only piping work in our mechanical division installing thousands of process piping systems. As a result, we developed our expertise and refined our methods for erecting piping systems in industrial plants all over the southeastern U.S. We have installed piping systems supporting all sorts of manufacturing systems. We still do process piping, but now, we also install all types of manufacturing equipment.

IPI starts every job with SAFETY. Safety rules and procedures are our top priority. Our first order of business on any job is to establish ground rules for safety on the project. We start with our own safety program and add all of the client's safety procedures. All workers are thoroughly trained in all aspects of safety guidelines established. Years in the business taught us that no one can afford losses from accidents. No job is a good job that has accidents. We take safety very seriously and so do our clients. We cannot and do not tolerate unsafe practices. Seven consecutive years receiving North Carolina Department of Labor Safety Awards attests to our commitment to safety.

  • We work with virtually all piping materials. Stainless and carbon steels, exotic alloys, plastics, fiberglass, lined or any other material--it does not matter. Our experience gives us excellent working knowledge of proper methods for making joints and erecting piping for practically all applications. We have done it all before and we know how to do the job right.

Over the years we learned that to make our finished work consistently the best, we needed a quality program So, we set up a quality control program based upon the ASME Code to regulate our work. We constantly update our program to keep it in compliance with the stringent requirements of the Code. And, we monitor our procedures to ensure that we follow our program. This is how we produce our best work everytime.

Welding is critical to our work. For most piping systems, the weld joints determine how good the system is. We use more than 70 qualified welding procedures for a wide variety of metals to ensure that welded joints are made to exceed industry standards. All welders are tested and qualified to the applicable welding procedures before they do any work on IPI projects. Our field crews are led by seasoned supervisors, all of whom have extensive experience directing process installations. Our supervisors are backed up by a core of full-time regular journeymen who have the know-how to do all types of mechanical work. Years of working all over the southeast have provided us with access to a large pool of known and proven skilled craftsmen. We call on these craftsmen when we need to supplement our core crews.

We also realize the advantages of doing prefabrication. We know what makes it work and what makes it fail. Good planning and good drawings can make the prefabrication of piping systems an excellent way to shorten the project schedule and reduce costs. We have the facilities and the experience to make prefabrication pay off for almost any project. Whether we do it in the field or in our shops in Pineville, when we pre-fab, both the quality and the speed of the job are improved.
